Abstract
The effect of ketoprofen on growth in vitro of eight fungal species an d Candida albicans was tested. Ketoprofen showed significant antifunga l activity against dermatophytes. The activity was affected by pH, bei ng greater at values below pH 7.0. In this respect, ketoprofen is comp aratively more efficient than two well known and medically used antifu ngal compounds, benzoic acid and salicyclic acid. These in vitro resul ts suggest the possibility of medical applications of ketoprofen.
