The possibility of building a specialized subsurface laboratory for lo
ng-term natural tests of solidified radioactive wastes is discussed. I
ts use will enable information on the migration of the radionuclides i
n various soils to be obtained, on the reliability of burial in shallo
w pits to be quantitatively evaluated, and on the natural conditions f
or burying solidified wastes in various regions with different geologi
cal conditions to be modeled.
