Abstract
The authors have demonstrated a compact (70mum free-space radiation le ngth), potentially robust, broadband (1.53-1.56mum), polarisation-inse nsitive 3dB optical power splitter based on InP using free-space radia tive input-output coupling. This passive, 3dB splitter is compatible w ith photonic integrated circuits.
