S. Bigo et al., BIT-RATE ENHANCEMENT THROUGH OPTICAL NRZ-TO-RZ CONVERSION AND PASSIVETIME-DIVISION MULTIPLEXING FOR SOLITON TRANSMISSION-SYSTEMS, Electronics Letters, 30(12), 1994, pp. 984-985
A nonlinear optical loop mirror is used to convert an NRZ signal gener
ated by a standard 2.5Gbit/s transmitter into a near-transform-limited
2.5Gbit/s RZ signal. Passive time-division multiplexing is then used
to enhance the signal bit rate up to 10Gbit/s. This experiment shows t
he potential of using NRZ transmitters for high bit rate soliton syste
m applications.
