P. Allia et al., QUENCHING-RATE DEPENDENCE OF THE MAGNETIC AND MECHANICAL-PROPERTIES OF NANOCRYSTALLINE FE73.5CU1NB3SI13.5B9 RIBBONS OBTAINED BY JOULE HEATING, IEEE transactions on magnetics, 30(2), 1994, pp. 461-465
Four Fe73.5Nb3Cu1Si13.5B9 ribbons obtained by melt spinning with diffe
rent quenching rates were submitted to direct current (DC) Joule-heati
ng treatment in vacuum. On-line measurements of the electrical resista
nce were performed in the course of Joule heating in order to study th
e development of the nanocrystalline phase. The results show that the
nanocrystallization kinetics is strongly dependent on the initial degr
ee of structural disorder. The increase in both initial magnetic perme
ability and brittleness upon nanocrystallization were observed to be a
ffected by the initial topological disorder.
