The manifestation of inhomogeneities in the mean magnetic moment per i
ron atom mu(Fe) and Curie temperature T(c) of Fe-B glassy alloys is sh
own experimentally and explained on the basis of the simultaneous exis
tence of compound-like associations and iron clusters. Experimental da
ta show anomalous concentration dependence or mu(Fe) and T(c) in the l
ow boron concentration range (epsilon(B) < 20 at%): T(c) increases and
mu(Fe) shows a flat maximum instead of monotonic decrease with increa
sing boron content. Cooling rate and melt overheat influence not only
the T(c) - which is known to be structure dependent - but the magnetiz
ation as well. The sensitivity to structural changes of these two para
meters can be interpreted by the exceptional behaviour of iron.
