Abstract
In this paper we present an alternative model for explaining the discr ete quantum absortion electromagnetic radiation by metal particles whe n their size diminishes. A simple expression is obtained which account s for the discrete quantum behaviour when the radii of the particles d ecreases. Given that no explicit use was made or the Schrodinger equat ion, it is generalizable in a straight forward manner to sets of metal particles, such as clusters that display a spheric symmetry.
