P. Kopcansky et al., STUDY OF MAGNETO-DIELECTRIC AND MAGNETOOPTICAL EFFECTS IN MINERAL-OILBASED MAGNETIC FLUIDS, IEEE transactions on magnetics, 30(2), 1994, pp. 1114-1116
The magneto-dielectric effect and magnetooptical effect (absorption co
efficient in infrared range) were studied for mineral oil based magnet
ic fluids with magnetite particles in the volume concentration range f
rom phi = 0.0125 to phi = 0.2. The anisotropy parameter - g defined as
a ratio of change of dielectric constant DELTAepsilon(parallel-to)(H)
(absorption coefficient DELTAA(parallel-to)(H)) for E parallel-to H w
ith respect to zero magnetic field dielectric constant and change of d
ielectric constant DELTAepsilon(perpendicular-to)(H) for E perpendicul
ar-to H (DELTAA(perpendicular-to)(H)) has been calculated from the exp
erimental data for booth effects. The values of g nearly equal 2 has b
een found in agreement with theoretical predictions.
