Octyl 2-O-alpha-D-mannopyranosyl-alpha-D-mannopyran its 6'-phosphate a
nd the corresponding B-methyl phosphodiester have been chemically synt
hesized. The latter compound was prepared using an H-phosphonate inter
mediate. These structures are for use as enzyme substrates and referen
ce standards in a study on the biosynthesis of phosphorylated N-linked
glycoproteins in the amoebae Dictyostelium discoideum.
