Abstract
The larvae of three sibling species of the Simulium damnosum complex w ere studied with a view to identification, using a Gas Liquid Chromato graph to analyze the hydrocarbons in the cuticular wax extracts. Multi variate statistics was applied to the chromatographic data to differen tiate three sibling species: S.damnosum s.s., S.squamosum and S.yahens e. Paired comparisons between the species gave greater than 96 % corre ct classifications in all cases.
