Abstract
A capacitor model which is used to simulate the interaction of a power ful, subpicosecond laser pulse with a plasma is simulated by means of 1D electrostatic particle code. We take into account the temporal prof ile of the laser pulse, and the growth of the electron energy by sever al orders of magnitude while providing adequate temporal and spatial r esolution. It is shown that during the pulse the excited plasma struct ure evolves from a coherent to a turbulent state. The factors, which c an affect this process are discussed.
