Abstract
A 'software sensor' associating a redox potential probe (sensor) and a n estimation algorithm (software) is proposed in order to provide on-l ine estimation of substrate concentration and biomass activity in Thio bacillus ferrooxidans cultures. The design of this 'software sensor' i s presented, as well as its experimental validation under various cult ure conditions. Its reliability performances are illustrated by an app lication in bioreactor monitoring and control.
