Abstract
Kinetic data (K(M) and V(max)) for the hydration reaction catalyzed by isozyme II of carbonic anhydrase (CA) are reported by a stopped-flow technique. The same data were measured in the presence of the CA activ ator histamine and the non-competitive inhibitor acetazolamide. The re sults obtained suggest a non-competitive type of interaction between t he enzyme and its modulators. Mechanistic and physiological consequenc es of the obtained results are discussed too.
