Cm. Krowne, VECTOR VARIATIONAL AND WEIGHTED RESIDUAL FINITE-ELEMENT PROCEDURES FOR HIGHLY ANISOTROPIC MEDIA, IEEE transactions on antennas and propagation, 42(5), 1994, pp. 642-650
Construction of energy-like expressions for various classes of anisotr
opic media and the use of the weighted residual technique for those ca
ses that don't obey Hermitian properties is undertaken. From the energ
y-like expressions are derived energy-like functionals, which are show
n to have volumetric and surface parts. Volumetric parts contain elect
romagnetic governing equations of the media, and surface parts provide
constraints on field components on interfacial boundaries. Media exam
ined here include gyroelectric, gyromagnetic, combined gyroelectric an
d gyromagnetic, and complex media displaying gyroelectric, gyromagneti
c, and optical activities.
