Abstract
In the method of exterior complex scaling the coordinates of the Hamil ton operator are scaled by a constant factor starting at a radius R no t-equal 0. We show that this procedure induces a singularity in the ki netic-energy term which must be interpreted as the derivative of a del ta function.
