Measurements of differential cross sections at 0-degrees for projectil
elike fragments from O-18 and Ar-40 projectiles at E/A = 80 MeV are pr
esented and are compared with the predictions of the abrasion-ablation
model, the internuclear cascade model, a high-energy empirical parame
trization, and a simple cluster breakup model. The data for both proje
ctiles are in good agreement with the high-energy systematics. The abr
asion-ablation and internuclear cascade models can adequately describe
the cross sections of fragments from Ar-40 with large mass losses, wh
ereas the cluster breakup model can describe the relative cross sectio
ns of few-nucleon removal products from both projectiles.
