Abstract
The crystal structure of the title compound was determined by X-ray di ffraction. The skeleton of the molecule is all trans and the molecules form a layer structure along the b axis as in a long-chain primary al cohol or a smectic C liquid crystal. The inclination angle of the long axis of the molecule to the layer plane is equal in each layer, but t he direction of the long axis is opposite in alternate layers. This ar rangement is different from that of the long-chain primary alcohols.
