Abstract
ASCA is a high-throughput X-ray astronomy observatory which is capable of simultaneous imaging and spectroscopic observations over a wide en ergy range 0.5-10 keV. The scientific capabilities of ASCA and some as pects related to its operation and observations axe briefly described.
