The present work aimed at testing different artificial cross technique
s in Brazilian oat (Avena sativa L.) genotypes. Crosses comparing the
approaching method, cut flower, and open flower techniques were made i
n a greenhouse during 1989, 1990, and 1991. A completely randon design
was used in the first experiment, and a randomized complete-block des
ign was used in the other three experiments. Analyses of variance were
made using the modified data from the percentage of grain obtained. A
mong the techniques tested, the approaching method was superior under
adequate temperature. All techniques were similar under stress conditi
ons.
