Abstract
In order to investigate the relationship between the structure and fun ctions of metallothioneins, [(CH3)(4)N](2)[Zn-4(SC6H5)(10)], as a mode l cluster of metallothionein has been synthesized. The structure of th e model cluster has been examined by a CAD-4 x-ray diffractometer and the kinetics of zinc transfer reaction to apocarbonic anhydrase has be en studied. Structural analysis and kinetic study show that compared w ith the model cluster the clusters in metallothionein are structurally more loose and they have a similar reactivity of zinc transfer.
