Hp. Wessel et al., IDENTIFICATION OF A SULFATED TETRASACCHARIDE WITH HEPARIN-LIKE ANTIPROLIFERATIVE ACTIVITY, Bioorganic & medicinal chemistry letters, 4(12), 1994, pp. 1419-1422
Investigation of the smooth muscle cell antiproliferative activities o
f Trestatin A sulfate substructures showed that a sulfated pentasaccha
ride is required to maintain a heparin-like effect. The modification o
f one glycosidic bond led to a synthetically readily available tetrasa
ccharide, namely sulfated beta-maltosyl trehalose 12, with similar ant
iproliferative but devoid of anticoagulant activity.
