For the VICKSI accelerator a new Radio Frequency Quadrupole (RFQ) inje
ctor will be built. Today VICKSI is a heavy ion accelerator, consistin
g of an isochronous cyclotron with four separate sectors and external
injection of beams with variable energy from either a CN Van de Graaff
or an 8UD tandem. The RFQ injector with ECR source will replace the t
andem, in order to meet demands from solid state physics users. We dis
cuss the matching between the RFQ injector and the VICKSI cyclotron.
