Abstract
Pyropheophorbide-N,N-dimethylethylenediamine conjugates are efficient water-soluble photosensitizers for DNA cleavage by visible light (400 and 690 nm). The behavior of the corresponding protoporphyrin IX deriv atives is also reported.
