Abstract
This article illustrates the need for integrated child-focused develop ment strategies that focus on all three environments of children: mate rial, physiological, and social. By focusing on the experiences of Dal it and Tribal children in Kerala, India, the article points to importa nt policy lessons to be considered in future strategies aimed at the c hild in poverty.
