Abstract
With emphasis on local economic development initiatives, many smaller communities have been looking to tourism as a means of stimulating eco nomic growth. This case study evaluates the costs associated with the booming tourist economy in Branson, Missouri. As this case demonstrate s, a booming tourist economy challenges communities and their leaders to resolve many equity-based issues such as housing, transportation, i nfrastructure and community service provisions.
