Abstract
Early diagnosis and rapid treatment of lethal aortic injuries associat ed with blunt trauma remain a challenge for trauma surgeons. The follo wing case demonstrates the use of transesophageal echocardiography for definitive diagnosis of an aortic injury from blunt trauma. A summary of current diagnostic modalities is also presented.
