A. Ruiztorres et al., ON THE ATHEROSCLEROSIS AS A PHYSIOLOGICAL PHENOMENON OF AGING AND AS A MEASURING PARAMETER OF AGING RATES, Zeitschrift fur Gerontologie, 27(3), 1994, pp. 172-176
This work studies the follow-up of vitality using parameters related t
o the arterial wall. This study is based on the application of several
mathematical models and different calculation procedures. Humoral par
ameters together with measurements of the daily insulin secretion (own
methodology based on the C-peptide elimination) were applied for the
calculations using the exclusively healthy population. In the case of
the non-selected population the percentage of disease prevalences due
to vascular affections were applied for calculations. The results poin
t out an acceleration of ageing in the non-selected population compare
d to those results obtained from the exclusively healthy population. M
oreover, all the ageing dimensions mentioned in this work are within t
he range of results which were previously obtained by other studies ap
plying similar procedures. Finally our study speaks for the capacity o
f the arterial wall not only to manifest but to integrate the wide spe
ctrum of metabolic changes physiologically found in the ageing process
.
