A novel trinuclear Cu2Mn complex 4 of a macrocyclic Schiff base ligand
obtained by condensation of 5-tert-butyl-2-hydroxy-1,3-benzenedicarba
ldehyde with 1,2-phenylenediamine was synthesized. The molecular struc
ture of 4 was determined by X-ray diffraction revealing a sandwich-typ
e structure as depicted by Figure 2. Electrochemical investigations (D
CV measurements) showed two one-electron reduction steps for the coppe
r ions at E1/2 = -1.383 and -1.652 V (vs. Cp2Fe/Cp2Fe)+.
