Abstract
We propose a method to calculate field distribution and S-parameters i n a planar n-port junction with rectangular waveguides. We use boundar y elements on metallic walls, combined with modal expansion in wavegui des and analytic representations for the field in dielectric samples o r ferrites. Our approach uses fewer nodal points than either the finit e-element or the boundary-element method. It is applicable to an H-pla ne junction with quite arbitrary geometry. The junction may contain se veral homogeneous or piecewise homogeneous circular cylindrical dielec tric samples or ferrites, or samples with more general shape if a simp le analyticity condition is met.
