Abstract
A novel solid-state fermentation method using polyurethane foam as ine rt carrier impregnated with a synthetic liquid medium was developed si mulating the nutritional composition and culture conditions of solid-s tate fermentation on wheat bran. With this system, biomass, the import ant parameter involved in solid-state fermentation processes, can be m easured directly. Some other superiorities of this system over convent ional solid-state fermentation systems are discussed.
