Abstract
The restatement by NELSON of HAECKEL's biogenetic law exemplifies the connection between observation of ontogenetic transformation and phylo genetic inference. This restatement implies that ontogenetic transform ations can be interpreted in terms of phylogenetics once interpreted a ccording to model of parsimony. Objections to this principle are discu ssed.
