Aa. Alekseev et al., SUSCEPTIBILITY OF THE TAIGA TICK IXODES-PERSULCATUS SCHULZE TO PYRETHROIDS, Experimental & applied acarology, 18(4), 1994, pp. 233-240
The susceptibility of the taiga tick Ixodes persulcatus Schulze to 15
pyrethroids has been evaluated. The knockdown time after exposure of t
icks to pyrethroids tested was quite similar. It was revealed that the
lethal doses of type I pyrethroids (permethrin-like) induced the rapi
d attachment of ticks to host. In contrast, the fatal poisoning with t
ype 11 pyrethroids (alpha-CN-pyrethroids) made the ticks unable to att
ach completely. Possible mechanisms of the acceleration and the preven
tion of attachment are discussed.
