Abstract
Correlation of transmission electron microscopy and scanning tunnellin g microscopy images obtained from a laser-ablated epitaxial thin film of YBa2Cu3O7-delta suggests that the spiral features observed on the s urface of these films may arise at mixed dislocations introduced as ha lf-loops, rather than at screw dislocations formed by the coalescence of incoherent growth fronts as has been proposed previously.
