Abstract
Candidate genes for cardiovascular disease are reviewed and the variat ions in the respective loci, such as Angiotensin converting enzyme (AC E) and Angiotensinogen in different ethnic groups are described. It is concluded that the polymorphic alleles in Blacks and Whites may be as sociated with different risks (eg. heart attack and stroke) depending on ethnic background and associated genetic factors.
