The thermal behaviour of (NH4)2V3O8 was investigated by TG and DSC mea
surements in oxygen and nitrogen atmospheres. The pyrolysis is very co
mplex, but the generation of ammonium hexavanadate, (NH4)2V6O16, in th
e first step of the degradation in both atmospheres, was unambiguously
established.
