J. Valaitis et al., DETECTION OF EARLY ACUTE MYOCARDIAL-INFARCTION BY GOMORI TRICHROME ANILINE BLUE STAIN, Journal of histotechnology, 17(2), 1994, pp. 127-130
A rapid one step Gomori trichrome with aniline blue (GTAB) stain is de
scribed. The original Gomori trichrome stain was modified by replacing
the light green stain with an aniline blue stain. The aniline blue st
ained the necrotic myocardial fibers deep blue in hearts of patients u
ndergoing autopsies following death due to early acute myocardial infa
rction. The aniline blue not only stained the fibrous components of th
e myocardial interstitium but also the necrotic myocardial fibers. The
GTAB stain became very valuable in differentiating early acute hemorr
hagic myocardial infarction from acute myocardial hemorrhage following
coronary aorta bypass surgery.
