H. Saleh et L. Lu, DIAGNOSIS OF KAPOSIS-SARCOMA IN A CERVICAL LYMPH-NODE BY FINE-NEEDLE ASPIRATION BIOPSY - A CYTOMORPHOLOGIC AND AN IMMUNOPEROXIDASE STUDY, Journal of histotechnology, 17(2), 1994, pp. 151-153
Kaposi's sarcoma (KS) has been increasingly seen during the past decad
e because of the current acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) epi
demic. In these patients, KS usually presents as disseminated disease.
We report a case of KS diagnosed by fine needle aspiration biopsy in
a young homosexual man with cervical lymphadenopathy. The cytologic fi
ndings leading to the diagnosis in the appropriate clinical setting an
d the usefulness of factor VIII immunoperoxidase stain in identifying
the endothelial origin of the tumor cells are presented.
