Abstract
Neohumanistic German Gymnasium with its sympathy for Greek and Latin a nd the tradition of LINNES Natural History was not the only cause of r esisting Biology teaching in the 19th century. It was also the fail of development in General Biology science. A widespread popularized ideo logical approach to Biology turning to the 20 th century at least surr endered German Biology teaching.
