L. Dep et al., DEPTH DEPENDENCE OF COSMOGENIC NEUTRON-CAPTURE-PRODUCED CL-36 IN A TERRESTRIAL ROCK, Nuclear instruments & methods in physics research. Section B, Beam interactions with materials and atoms, 92(1-4), 1994, pp. 301-307
A depth profile of cosmogenic neutron-capture-produced Cl-36 was measu
red in quartz extracted from a siliceous dolomite ejecta boulder drill
core at Meteor Crater, AZ. The results show a maximum in production b
elow the top surface of the boulder and are consistent with the depth
dependence of production predicted by Monte Carlo calculations. A mode
l is presented here that uses the special features of the profile to d
etermine both the exposure age and steady-state erosion rate of a geom
orphic surface.
