U. Fehn et al., DATING AND TRACING OF FLUIDS USING I-129 AND CL-36 - RESULTS FROM GEOTHERMAL FLUIDS, OIL-FIELD BRINES AND FORMATION WATERS, Nuclear instruments & methods in physics research. Section B, Beam interactions with materials and atoms, 92(1-4), 1994, pp. 380-384
Preliminary results are presented for I-129/I and Cl-36/Cl ratios in f
ormation waters from the KTB project in Germany, geothermal waters fro
m the Salton Sea Geothermal System in California and oilfield brines f
rom the Anadarko Basin in Oklahoma. The results demonstrate the use of
these isotopic systems to determine residence times, source formation
s and pathways of fluids in different geologic situations.
