There is a long history of debate and controversy surrounding the exis
tence of academic branch libraries. Although the reasons for reviewing
branch libraries are numerous and varied, there is a need for consist
ency in the review process. Using recent ACRL guidelines and standards
as a foundation, the authors propose a model methodology for reviewin
g academic branch libraries which may be utilized by any institution u
ndertaking such a process.
