Abstract
This review presents methods for addressing the issue of molecular com plexity in biological systems. Biomolecules immobilised on solid phase s can be used to probe biological interactions. As a specific example, arrays of large numbers of oligonucleotides allow the analysis of DNA sequences and complex populations of DNA molecules. The specific embo diments of this new method are presented, research up to mid-1992 outl ined and requirements for future development discussed.
