N. Nagaratnam et al., PSYCHIATRIC AND BEHAVIORAL MANIFESTATIONS OF NORMAL-PRESSURE HYDROCEPHALUS, British journal of clinical practice, 48(3), 1994, pp. 122-124
Seven patients with psychiatric and behavioural manifestations of norm
al-pressure hydrocephalus are described. There is little disagreement
about the classical triad of symptoms. However, it requires a high ind
ex of suspicion when a patient presents with non-specific psychiatric
and behavioural symptoms. Clinicians must be alert to the possibility
when positive findings point to the diagnosis of normal-pressure hydro
cephalus, namely gait disturbance, incontinence soft neurological sign
s, history of hypertension and no previous psychiatric history.
