The Index shows present valid name of genus and its species in the Indian region. Forty-nine g enera of Satyridae (including Amathusiinae), 81 of Nymphalidae (includ ing Heliconiinae and Acraeinae), one of Libytheidae, and 7 of Riodinid ae are reported.
