Ch. Chan et Ra. Kipp, AN IMPROVED IMPLEMENTATION OF TRIANGULAR-DOMAIN BASIS FUNCTIONS FOR THE ANALYSIS OF MICROSTRIP INTERCONNECTS, Journal of electromagnetic waves and applications, 8(6), 1994, pp. 779-795
In the implementation of the triangular-domain basis functions for the
analysis of microstrip interconnects, new schemes are developed to co
nstruct the method of moments impedance matrix. These schemes are comp
ared to the original method developed by Rao, Wilton, and Glisson (RWG
) in terms of efficiency and accuracy. An important feature of the sch
emes is that the symmetry of the matrix is retained such that only the
diagonal and the upper triangular portions of the matrix are stored.
A banded matrix iterative algorithm is then applied to solve this symm
etry matrix. The matrix fill time is reduced by a factor of 2 when com
pared to RWG. The matrix solve time is also reduced by a factor of 10
when compared to the full matrix inversion often used in RWG.
