This Letter deals with the optimum design of shielded dielectric reson
ators, with a dielectric constant around 24, for millimeter-wave oscil
lator stabilization. Extending the Itoh et al. and Kajfez models, an e
mpirical formula is devised that explicitly determines the optimum die
lectric resonator dimensions and the shield height for a desired reson
ant frequency under the maximum achievable unloaded quality factor. (C
