Abstract
Of several different methods tried for the extraction of phycocyanin ( PC) from the cyanobacterium Spirulina, treatment with 1800 Units/ml ly sozyme and 100 ppm linear alkyl benzene sulfonate afforded good PC yie ld with high specific content, resulting in 66 and 98% recovery of PC, respectively.
