Abstract
The spatial twist continuum (STC) is a powerful extension of the dual of a hexahedral mesh Murdoch et al., Int. J. Numer. Math. Engng (submi tted). The STC captures the global connectivity constraints inherent i n hexahedral meshing. Whisker weaving is an advancing-front type of al gorithm based on the STC [Tautges et al., Int. J. Numer. Math. Engng ( submitted]. During the whisker weaving algorithm, certain types of deg enerate elements called wedges [Blacker; Myers (1993) Engng with Compu ters, 9, 83-93 arise. This paper described wedges and how they are for med, and presents collapsing and driving, two strategies for removing these degeneracies.
