A LUMEN METHOD OF SIDELIGHTING BASED ON PROFILE ANGLE

A lumen method for sidelighting has been developed for clear windows u sing coefficients of utilization based on the solar profile angle. CUs are provided in graphical form for both clear and overcast skies. The se values are based on a finite element model performed with the SUPER LITE analysis program. Overhangs are considered using a view factor fo r the overhang that includes both direct and reflected light. Good agr eement between this method and complex models for a range of solar pos itions and building configurations is shown.
