Abstract
It is shown that useful information, such as indications of glare and contrast conditions, can be obtained through the ratio of vertical to horizontal illuminance at a point in space. The utility of the measure under clear, partly cloudy, and overcast skies is demonstrated throug h the use of measured results. This measure can also be used to assess combined electric and daylighting systems.
